The Airship Surveillance Team The principles of Airship Surveillance have over half a century of combined experience in the fields of airship design, development, certification, operations and program management. The team saw the need for an advanced series of unmanned airships optomized for use in the surveillance and research rolls and capable of a level of performance that cannot be matched by fixed or rotary wing aircraft. Our company philosophy is to provide the most innovative and effective products in the industry combined with first-rate customer service. PAUL ADAMS: Director of Operations. Paul has had a lifelong interest in airships and has been working with and flying them for over 15 years. He started his airship career as junior ground crew, eventually achieving promotion to the position of chief pilot. He has flown various types of airships on four continents and brings his experience of "making it happen in the real world" to the company. Paul has also provided service to a number of airship development companies in the role of consultant. SANFORD "SANDY" MANGOLD: Sanford D. "Sandy" Mangold serves as Vice President & Director of Government & Industry Relations. He provides Surveillance Airships with strategic advice and participates in formulation and execution of strategic business policies. He has served as Vice President, Plans & Programs for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) company and successfully managed all their Government & Industry Contracts.Sandy had a long and distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and retired as a Colonel. His experience includes being a member of the Joint Intelligence Task Force – Combating Terrorism (JITF-CT) at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) as part of the U.S. Air Force Intelligence Analysis Agency (AFIAA); serving as Chief, Systems Engineering & Integration for the U.S. National Security Space Architect"s Integrated ISR Team; was a Project Manager on the Space-Based Laser (SBL) Program. He has been the Director of Arms Control Studies at the U.S. Army War College. Selected by the Secretary of the USAF to be the first Blue Suit USAF Space Shuttle Flight Controller working at NASA/Johnson Space Center's Mission Control Center. Mr. Mangold earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education (Mathematics) from the University of Florida, Masters of Science in Systems Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology/School of Engineering, and a Masters of Arts in National Security Studies at the U.S. Naval Warfare College/College of Naval Warfare. Currently, he is also an Adjunct Professor for the University of Maryland and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
